Market wrap: VN-Index tumbles to four-month low
The VN-Index dropped 1.8% on Monday, slumping to a four-month low as strong selling pressure emerged in the banking and real estate sectors.
* Several banks suffered heavy losses, including VCB (-3.1%), CTG (-5.8%), VPB (-4.8%), BID (-3.4%), MBB (-3.5%) and TCB (-1.6%).
* Securities brokerages SSI (-6.2%), VCI (-7.0%), HCM (-6.2%) and VND (-4.4%) plunged.
* Steelmaker HPG (-3.5%) has declined 9.7% since April 7.
* VHM (-1.8%) and its parent company VIC (-1.5%) both declined for the third consecutive session.
* GVR (+2.2%) was the day’s top contributing gainer as it notched its fourth straight positive session. PNJ (+5.5%) also extended its winning streak to four sessions.
