Vietnam and Japan upgraded their 50-year ties to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
On November 27, Vietnam and Japan upgraded their 50-year ties to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) “for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world,” from Strategic Partnership, which was set in 2009. The CSP is the highest level of diplomatic ties within Vietnam’s three-tier hierarchy. Presently, Vietnam has CSPs with six countries, including China (2008), Russia (2012), India (2016), South Korea (2022), the US (2023), and now Japan.
