Market wrap: VN-Index ticks up, gains for seventh consecutive trading day
The VN-Index ticked up 0.4% (+5.1 pts) on Tuesday to close at 1,230.1. This is the seventh consecutive trading day that the index has made gains. The market was able to finish the afternoon session in positive territory despite 19 of the 30 stocks in the large-cap VN30 basket declining (14) or going unchanged (5). In total, there were 245 gainers, 231 laggards, and 95 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined to USD859.8mn.
* In banking, only VCB (+1.2%), BID (+0.2%), and HDB (+1.1%) increased. CTG (-0.6%), VPB (-1.01%), MBB (-0.4%), ACB (-0.5%), and SSB (-0.2%) declined. TCB (0.0%) and STB (0.0%) were unchanged.
* The real estate sector had a strong performance for successive days. VIC (+3.2%) and VRE (+6.0%) surged while VHM (+1.3%) also climbed.
* Some notable gainers were rubber producer GVR (+5.2%), chemical company DGC (+2.2%), pharmaceutical company DHG (+2.1%), and beer maker SAB (+1.2%).
* A few decliners of note were milk producer VNM (-0.6%), GAS (-0.9%), fruit grower HAG (-3.1%), and technology company FPT (-0.7%).
