Market wrap: VN-Index ticks up 0.5% on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the VN-Index ticked up 0.5% (+5.6 pts) to close the trading day at 1,215.9. The real estate sector had the most positive impact on the market. Throughout the index, there were 228 gainers, 182 laggards, and 80 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume decreased compared to the previous trading day to USD564.4mn.
* In real estate, the sector leaders were VHM (+6.9%), VIC (+2.5%), VRE (+5.9%), and BCM (+1.4%).
* The basic materials sector continued its strong performance from yesterday as GVR (+3.8%), DPM (+3.4%), DCM (+2.0%), and CSV (+3.7%) surged. HPG (-0.95%) declined.
* Banks was the sector most weighing on the index. TCB (-2.2%), VPB (-1.9%), BID (-0.7%), and CTG (-1.1%) were the top laggards in the sector. VCB (+0.5%) and LPB (+1.4%) saw their share prices increase.
* Some notable gainers from other sectors were utility company GAS (+2.7%), milk producer VNM (+1.5%), technology company FPT (+0.9%), oil & gas company PLX (+1.7%), and retailer FRT (+1.02%).
