Market wrap: VN-Index ticks up 0.4% on Friday
The VN-Index ticked up 0.4% (+5.6 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,258.3. The banking sector weighed most heavily on the market while gains were seen across a range of other industries. In total, there were 293 gainers, 182 laggards, and 82 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined to USD961.5mn.
* Bank BID (+0.9%) was the top contributor to the market’s gain. Elsewhere in the sector, CTG (+0.1%), STB (+1.3%), and SSB (+0.2%) gained. VPB (-1.3%), TCB (-0.8%), MBB (-0.6%), and ACB (-0.7%) declined. VCB (0.0%) and HDB (0.0%) had no change.
* In real estate, the Vingroup stocks slightly recovered from yesterday’s losses, with VIC (+0.6%), VHM (+1.3%), and VRE (+0.6%) advancing. BCM (+0.5%), NVL (+1.2%), and SIP (+1.2%) also gained.
* The top upward movers in other sectors were technology firm FPT (+1.7%), rubber producer GVR (+1.9%), jewelry retailer PNJ (+5.9%), logistics company GMD (+5.9%), securities company BSI (+6.99%), electrical equipment manufacturer GEX (+4.04%), and chemical products producer DGC (+1.8%).
* Steel maker HPG (-0.5%), retailer FRT (-2.8%), power producer PGV (-1.98%), and transportation agency TMS (-3.8%) were among the top ten laggards in the index.
