Market wrap: VN-Index ticks up 0.2%, led by stocks in various sectors

On Tuesday, the VN-Index ticked up 0.2% (+2.4 pts) to close at 1,188.5. The gains were led by stocks in a variety of sectors. In total, there were 244 gainers, 212 decliners, and 107 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume decreased to USD599.3mn.  

* Yesterday, eight banks were in the group of the ten most positively contributing stocks to the market, while today had four. These were CTG (+1.5%), HDB (+1.6%), BID (+0.3%), and VPB (+0.5%). VCB (-0.6%) was the only large-cap decliner for the second consecutive day. 

* The other top performers on the day were from a variety of sectors. In order of most to least influential, these were chemical company DGC (+5.3%), GAS (+0.7%), technology firm FPT (+0.6%), airline HVN (+2.4%), rubber producer GVR (+0.6%), and FPT’s retail associate, FRT (+3.4%).  

* Two of the Vingroup stocks, VHM (-0.6%) and VRE (-0.5%) were in the group of the ten stocks most weighing on the market, while parent company VIC (+0.2%) gained.  

* Milk producer VNM (-0.6%), retailer MWG (-0.8%), and airline VJC (-0.8%) were among the other notable stocks putting downward pressure on the market.
