Market wrap: VN-Index surges 2.4% on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the VN-Index surged 2.4% (+28.2 pts) to close the trading day at 1,205.6. The index’s gain was led by large-cap stocks across sectors posting strong performances. Throughout the index, there were 435 gainers, 69 decliners, and 39 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased to USD779.3mn.
* Five of the ten stocks contributing most to the market’s gain came from the banks sector. These were CTG (+4.6%), BID (+1.2%), MBB (+2.5%), TCB (+1.7%), and VCB (+0.6%).
* The basic materials sector included two top contributors to the index: rubber producer GVR (+6.9%) and steel maker HPG (+4.4%). Chemical company DGC (+5.7%) and fertilizer producer DCM (+2.99%) also saw strong gains.
* In real estate, VIC (+1.5%) and VHM (+1.0%) gained, while VRE (+2.97%), NVL (+4.8%), and KDH (+3.3%) increased significantly. DIG (+6.9%) and PDR (+6.9%) spiked.
* Other high-performing stocks were technology company FPT (+6.95%), retailer MWG (+5.0%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+3.4%), oil & gas company PVD (+3.8%), and fish exporter VHC (+5.7%).
