Market wrap: VN-Index slides 1.1% as majority of VN30 stocks decline
The VN-Index slid 1.1% (-13.9 pts) on Monday to close the trading day at 1,267.9. The majority of the large-cap VN30 stocks declined (27), two gained, and one was unchanged. In the index, there were 119 gainers, 351 laggards, and 71 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume edged down to USD1.2bn.
* In banking, BID (-2.2%), CTG (-2.8%), VCB (-0.7%), ACB (-2.3%), MBB (-1.4%), and STB (-2.5%) were among the top-ten stocks pushing the market down.
* Real estate stocks VRE (-2.4%), VHM (-0.6%), BCM (-0.9%), and KDH (-0.5%) fell while VIC (+0.5%), NVL (+3.5%), DIG (+0.2%), and NLG (+0.5%) increased.
* In basic materials rubber producer GVR (-4.1%), steel maker HPG (-1.1%), chemical company DGC (-2.9%), and fertilizer producer DCM (-1.6%) lost value. Mining comapny DHM (+6.8%) surged.
* In the consumer goods sector, conglomerate MSN (-3.8%), milk producer VNM (-0.7%), jewelry retailer PNJ (-2.5%), and fish exporter VHC (-2.3%) declined. Coffee maker VCF (+7.0%) gained significantly.
