Market wrap: VN-Index slides 0.95% on Monday
The VN-Index slid 0.95% (-11.9 pts) on Monday to close the trading day at 1,235.5. Declines were seen across sectors, with banks standing out as the most significant contributor to the downturn, while the healthcare sector emerged as the sole gainer. Only three stocks (GVR, VNM, HDB) in the large-cap VN30 group advanced, while two were unchanged. Total trading volume decreased to USD969.7mn. Throughout the index, there were 106 gainers, 392 laggards, and 57 stocks that were unchanged.
* In the banks sector, VCB (-1.1%), VPB (-2.4%), BID (-1.2%), and MBB (-2.8%) were the worst performers. HDB (+0.4%) posted a modest gain.
* In real estate, VIC (-1.0%), VRE (-3.5%), BCM (-3.2%), and NVL (-2.7%) declined and VHM (0.0%) was unchanged. VRC (+6.9%) surged.
* The utilities sector also had a significant impact on the market. GAS (-2.1%), power supplier POW (-0.9%), electricity producer PGV (-0.5%), and thermal power plant builder NT2 (-1.1%) fell.
* Some of the noteworthy gainers in the index were medical company DMC (+7.0%), milk producer VNM (+0.4%), rubber producer GVR (+1.9%), telecommunications infrastructure construction company CTR (+6.9%), tech retailer FRT (+5.8%), and jewelry retailer PNJ (+2.6%).
