Market wrap: VN-Index slides 0.6%

On Thursday, the VN-Index slid 0.6% (-6.8 pts) to close the trading day at 1,223.6. Only four stocks in the large-cap VN30 group saw their share prices increase. Foreign investors were net buyers for the fifth straight trading day. Throughout the index, there were 109 gainers, 301 laggards, and 64 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume decreased compared to the previous trading day to USD459.2mn.  

* Banks LPB (+2.1%), HDB (+0.97%), VIB (+0.97%), and CTG (+0.2%) were four of the top-ten stocks helping ease downward pressure on the market. BID (-0.9%), VCB (-0.5%), and MBB (-0.6%) had the opposite effect. VPB (0.0%) was unchanged.  

* Multiple real estate stocks had poor performances as BCM (-1.7%), VRE (-1.1%), KDH (-0.6%), KBC (-1.6%), PDR (-1.7%), and SIP (-3.0%) dropped. VHM (+1.8%) and NVL (+0.5%) gained and VIC (0.0%) was unchanged.  

* In basic materials, GVR (-2.3%) and HPG (-0.98%) had a significant negative impact on the index while DGC (-1.0%) and DCM (-1.9%) also fell.  

* Other noteworthy laggards were food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-1.96%), utility company GAS (-0.98%), technology company FPT (-0.6%), and retailer MWG (-1.1%).
