The VN-Index slid 0.5% (-6.3 pts) on Thursday to close the trading day at 1,266.3. The banks and real estate sectors had the most negative impact on the market. In total, there were 156 gainers, 277 laggards, and 70 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased to USD1.0bn.
* Despite the sector performing poorly overall, individual bank stock results were mixed as VCB (-1.3%), BID (-1.9%), VPB (-0.6%), MBB (-2.0%), and HDB (-1.5%) declined while CTG (+0.5%), TCB (+0.7%), ACB (+0.5%), LPB (+0.2%), and VIB (+0.5%) gained.
* In real estate, VIC (-2.8%), VHM (-1.1%), BCM (-1.5%), and VRE (-2.5%) dropped. KDH (+0.98%) was the only large-cap company in the sector that saw its share price increase.
* Notable stocks from other sectors pushing the market down were utility company GAS (-1.3%), steel maker HPG (-1.2%), technology company FPT (-0.5%), beer maker SAB (-1.98%), airline HVN (-2.1%), and milk producer VNM (-0.9%).
* Stocks from other sectors lifting the index were rubber producer GVR (+3.2%), retailer MWG (+3.8%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+2.9%), utility company POW (+1.99%), and pharmaceutical company DHG (+3.1%).
