Market Wrap: VN-Index slides 0.4% to finish week
The VN-Index slid 0.4% (-4.6 pts) on Friday to close the trading day at 1,251.7. The majority of the large-cap VN30 group (17) saw their share prices decline. Throughout the index, there were 163 gainers, 210 laggards, and 90 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased compared to the previous trading day to USD456.5mn.
* In the banks sector, VCB (+0.5%), HDB (+0.8%), and STB (+0.3%) gained while BID (-0.3%), CTG (-0.3%), TCB (-0.5%), VPB (-0.3%), and MBB (-0.4%) declined.
* There were mixed performances in the real estate sector, as VRE (+1.6%), NVL (+1.3%), PDR (+1.7%), and NLG (+2.1%) surged but VHM (-0.2%), BCM (-0.7%), and KBC (-1.2%) declined. VIC (0.0%) was unchanged.
* Significant laggards in other sectors were utility company GAS (-2.4%), milk producer VNM (-2.4%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-1.2%), steel maker HPG (-0.4%), and logistics company TMS (-6.5%).
* Some of the most notable gainers in the index were tech company FPT (+0.5%), beer producer SAB (+1.3%), oil & gas company PLX (+0.9%), utility company PGV (+1.4%), and airline HVN (+0.7%).
