Market wrap: VN-Index shows little movement

The VN-Index showed little movement (0.0%, +0.03 pts) on Thursday to close the trading day at 1,281.5. Foreign investors were net sellers for the seventh consecutive trading day. Throughout the market, there were 174 gainers, 214 laggards, and 92 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume decreased compared to the previous trading day to USD562.5mn.

* Several real estate stocks dropped including VIC (-0.5%), VRE (-1.3%), NVL (-2.3%), and PDR (-2.1%). VHM (+1.5%) and BCM (+2.9%) surged.

* In the banks sector, STB (+3.1%) jumped, and VCB (+0.4%), CTG (+0.3%), MBB (+0.8%), ACB (+0.6%), and HDB (+1.1%) gained. BID (-0.6%) declined.

* Consumer goods stocks posted poor performances with milk producer VNM (-0.5%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.3%), fruit planter HAG (-1.4%), sugar producer SBT (-1.97%), and jewelry retailer PNJ (-0.6%) falling.

* Some of the noteworthy gaining stocks in other sectors were technology companies FPT (+0.3%) and CMC (+2.3%), airlines VJC (+0.9%) and HVN (+0.5%), and chemical companies DGC (+1.2%) and DCM (+0.9%).
