Market wrap: VN-Index sees modest increase of 0.3%
The VN-Index saw a modest increase of 0.3% (+3.1 pts) on Monday to open the week at 1,183.1. Several banks put downward pressure on the market, while the real estate sector performed well. Throughout the index, there were 276 gainers, 190 laggards, and 90 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume climbed to USD1.2bn.
* In banking, VCB (-1.3%), VPB (-0.3%), STB (-0.6%), and SSB (-0.4%) declined. CTG (+1.1%) and MBB (+0.8%) increased and all other stocks in the sector were unchanged.
* In real estate, BCM (+2.8%), KBC (+6.9%), and KDH (+2.9%) surged while DIG (+2.0%) and VRE (+1.3%) also gained.
* Some of the top performers across industries were rubber producer GVR (+2.2%), airline HVN (+6.7%), retailer MWG (+1.7%), milk producer VNM (+0.7%), and construction & building materials company VGC (+2.2%).
* Chemical company DGC (-1.7%), beer maker SAB (-0.5%), securities company SSI (-0.5%), and steel maker HPG (-0.2%) were among the top ten decliners in the index.
