Market wrap: VN-Index sees marginal increase
The VN-Index saw a marginal increase of 0.1% (+0.83 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,284.4. Banks was the sector that weighed the most on the market, while multiple consumer goods stocks surged. Throughout the index, there were 189 gainers, 236 laggards, and 81 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased to USD948.1mn.
* Among banks, VCB (+0.1%) and BID (+0.1%) were the only large-cap gainers. CTG (-1.2%), MBB (-1.3%), VPB (-0.6%), HDB (-1.04%), ACB (-0.6%), and STB (-1.2%) were in the top ten stocks negatively affecting the index.
* In consumer goods, beer makers SAB (+6.8%) and BHN (+6.9%), milk producer VNM (+3.8%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+0.8%), and food processing company KDC (+0.9%) advanced.
* In real estate, VIC (+0.2%), BCM (+2.1%), and VRE (+1.8%) gained. VHM (-0.3%), KDH (-1.2%), NVL (-0.7%), and NLG (-2.5%) fell.
* Selected stocks outside of the sectors above that lost value were retailer MWG (-2.8%), airline HVN (-1.5%), steel maker HPG (-0.2%), utility company POW (-1.8%), and oil & gas company PVD (-1.7%).
