Market wrap: VN-Index rises for third consecutive session with a modest 0.3% gain

On Wednesday, the VN-Index slightly increased for the third consecutive session, gaining 3.4 points (+0.3%) to close at 1,113.8. However, many members of the VN30 group were down, primarily concentrated in the bank sector. Total trading volume jumped to USD834.9mn.  

* Among banks, there were four gainers that boosted the session: VCB (+0.1%), CTG (+0.7%), TCB (+0.5%), and ACB (+0.4%). BID (-0.8%) and MBB (-0.3%) declined and VPB (0.0%) went unchanged.  

* In real estate, VIC (-1.4%), subsidiary VHM (-0.3%), and BCM (-0.5%) helped drag the market down.  

* Food & beverage firms MSN (+0.5%) and SAB (+0.6%) increased while VNM (-0.1%) decreased.  

* Steel maker HPG (+0.6%) gained for the third day running. GAS (0.0%) was unchanged.
