The VN-Index retreated 0.2% (-1.8 pts) on Thursday to close at 1,252.7. The main sectors contributing to the market’s decline were banking and real estate. Throughout the market, there were 262 laggards, 214 gainers, and 80 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume jumped to USD1.06bn.
* In banking, BID (-1.7%) most negatively affected the market. CTG (-1.1%), MBB (-1.02%), VCB (-0.1%), and OCB (-1.6%) also declined. HDB (+0.4%) and STB (+0.5%) were the only gainers in the sector.
* In real estate, VIC (-1.3%), VHM (-2.3%), and VRE (-4.7%) slid after increasing yesterday. These three stocks were among the top five tickers weighing on the market. In contrast, KDH (+6.9%) soared and PDR (+1.1%), DIG (+1.1%), and SIP (+1.2%) climbed.
* There were strong performances in other sectors, such as food & beverage company MSN (+3.1%), beer brewer SAB (+1.4%), steel maker HPG (+1.3%), securities firm SSI (+2.5%), and retailer MWG (+1.99%).
* Some of the notable decliners were milk producer VNM (-0.3%), GAS (-0.8%), power company POW (-1.3%), rubber producer GVR (+1.04%), and airline VJC (-0.3%).
