Market wrap: VN-Index rebound, securities tickers surge

After plunging by more than 7% over the previous four trading sessions, the VN-Index made a strong recovery on Wednesday, closing with a 1.4% gain as several securities brokerages regained their footing following their recent losses.

* The banking sector was up across the board, led by gains from VCB (+0.9%), VPB (+2.7%), CTG (+2.3%) and MBB (+1.4%).

* Securities brokerages SSI (+6.8%), VND (+5.8%), VCI (+5.5%) and HCM (+5.0%) bounced back after suffering heavy losses over the last few sessions.

* GVR (+4.7%) climbed following its 18% drop over the last three trading days.

* Brewer SAB (-1.6%) was the day’s top contributing laggard.
