Market wrap: VN-Index posts small gain on Monday
The VN-Index posted a small gain of 0.2% (+3.1 pts) on Monday to close the trading day at 1,290.7. The market’s upward movement was led by a diverse group of large-cap stocks from several sectors. Throughout the index, there were 243 gainers, 193 laggards, and 64 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased to USD849.7mn.
* Banks CTG (+2.1%), MBB (+0.9%), STB (+1.1%), and HDB (+0.8%) were four of the top ten most positively contributing stocks in the index. Conversely, VCB (-0.6%), ACB (-0.8%), TCB (-0.4%), and BID (-0.2%) were among the top ten most negatively contributing stocks.
* The real estate sector had a poor peformance as VIC (-0.1%), VHM (-0.3%), BCM (-2.01%), VRE (-0.5%), and NVL (-0.3%) fell.
* Other notable gainers were rubber producer GVR (+3.4%), technology company FPT (+1.4%), retailer MWG (+1.5%), industrials companies GMD (+4.2%) and PVT (+5.6%), and oil & gas company PLX (+1.1%).
* Other noteworthy laggards were milk producer VNM (-0.9%), mechanical electric equipment manufacturer LGC (-6.7%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.6%), utility company POW (-2.2%), and fruit farmer HAG (-2.8%).
