Market Wrap: VN-Index posts slight gain of 0.1%

On Friday, the VN-Index posted a slight gain of 0.1% (+0.8 pts) to close the trading day at 1,272.0. The banks sector had the most positive impact on the market. Throughout the index, there were 224 gainers, 184 laggards, and 64 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume jumped compared to the previous trading day to USD885.8mn.  

* ACB (+3.4%), TCB (+1.5%), MBB (+1.4%), VPB (+1.1%), LPB (+1.6%), and STB (+1.2%) were among the top-ten stocks lifting the index. VCB (-0.98%) and BID (-0.4%) declined.

* The real estate market put the most downward pressure on the index as VHM (-0.9%), VIC (-1.4%), BCM (-0.8%), and KDH (-0.4%) fell. VRE (+0.3%) and NVL (+0.4%) gained.  

* Some of the standout gainers in other sectors were steel maker HPG (+1.6%), beer producer SAB (+1.6%), oil & gas companies PLX (+1.4%) and PVD (+5.1%), and fish exporter VHC (+1.7%).  

* Laggards in other sectors that had a marked negative impact on the index were milk producer VNM (-0.8%), utility company GAS (-0.4%), and rubber producer GVR (-0.3%).
