Market wrap: VN-Index posts minimal decrease on Thursday

On Thursday, the VN-Index posted a minimal decrease of 0.03% (-0.4 pts) to close the trading day at 1,258.2. The top gaining sector was basic materials while the worst performing sector was real estate. Throughout the index, there were 150 gainers, 308 laggards, and 84 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined to USD660.2mn.  

* In real estate, BCM (-1.6%), VRE (-1.4%), VIC (-0.4%), and SJS (-4.4%) were the most significant stocks losing value, while TCH (+5.9%) jumped and DIG (+2.2%) surged.  

* Basic materials was the leading gaining sector in the market. Steel makers HPG (+0.8%) and NKG (+3.8%), rubber producer GVR (+0.8%), and chemical company DGC (+1.7%) advanced. 

* The banks sector had a mixed performance, as VCB (-0.5%), TCB (-1.2%), and MBB (-0.2%) declined, BID (+1.9%), CTG (+0.2%), and ACB (+0.2%) gained, and VPB (0.0%) and VIB (0.0%) were unchanged. 

* Noteworthy positively contributing stocks in other sectors were technology company FPT (+0.97%), technology retailers FRT (+3.7%) and MWG (+0.6%), logistics & telecom company VTP (+1.97%), and logistics company STG (+3.9%).
