The VN-Index posted a marginal loss of 0.1% (-1.6 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,279.5. Most large-cap banks and financial services stocks saw their share prices decline. Throughout the index, there were 153 gainers, 209 laggards, and 70 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume decreased compared to the previous trading day to USD532.3mn.
* In the banks sector, BID (-0.3%), TCB (-0.2%), MBB (-0.6%), ACB (-0.4%), LPB (-1.4%), and SSB (-4.0%) declined. VCB (+0.1%) and CTG (+0.4%) gained.
* Financial services stocks SSI (-0.6%), VND (-1.0%), HCM (-0.2%), and VCI (-0.7%) posted losses.
* Some of the stocks counteracting the index’s downward movement were retailer MWG (+1.7%), real estate company VHM (+0.8%), milk producer VNM (+1.1%), rubber producer GVR (+0.9%), and beer maker SAB (+1.2%).
* Notable laggards negatively affecting the market were utility company GAS (-0.9%), oil & gas company PLX (-2.3%), tech company FPT (-0.5%), and food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.5%).
