The VN-Index fell 0.6% (-7.5 pts) on Friday to close the trading day at 1,270.6, with the banks sector contributing most to the index’s decline. Throughout the index, there were 101 gainers, 290 laggards, and 61 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume plunged compared to the previous trading day to USD553.3mn.

* Banks VCB (-0.3%) and BID (-0.6%) slid as CTG (-1.7%), STB (-1.9%), MBB (-1.6%), and ACB (-1.2%) dropped. LPB (+0.5%) was the lone gainer in the sector.

* In real estate, BCM (-1.7%) and VRE (-1.9%) sharply fell, VIC (-0.9%) and VHM (-0.2%) declined, and KDH (+0.1%) gained.

* The basic materials sector performed poorly for the second consecutive trading day, with key stocks GVR (-1.8%), DGC (-0.96%), and DCM (-0.4%) seeing declines while HPG (0.0%) was unchanged.

* Other noteworthy laggards across sectors were milk producer VNM (-2.6%), jewelry retailer PNJ (-1.9%), securities company SSI (-0.9%), airline HVN (-0.7%), and food & beverage conglomerate MSN (-0.5%).
