Market wrap: VN-Index gains 0.9% on Wednesday
The VN-Index gained 0.9% (+11.1 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,254.4. The index was led by the large-cap VN30 group, with 28 of its members seeing their share prices increase. Throughout the index, there were 290 gainers, 126 laggards, and 94 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume jumped to USD868.3mn.
* After a poor performance yesterday, the banks sector had four of the ten stocks most positively contributing to the market. These were BID (+1.04%), VCB (+0.4%), LPB (+2.5%), and STB (+2.02%). VPB (-0.3%) and ACB (-0.2%) declined.
* In real estate, VIC (+0.7%), VHM (+0.3%), VRE (+0.5%), and BCM (+0.3%) posted gains while KDH (+1.4%) and NVL (+2.9%) surged.
* Steel maker HPG (+3.3%), technology company FPT (+2.8%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+2.3%), milk producer VNM (+0.8%), and retailer MWG (+1.2%) were the top stocks lifting the market in other sectors.
* Some notable laggards were fish exporter VHC (-0.4%), commodities shipping services company PVT (-0.7%), pharmaceuticals company DHG (-0.2%), and utilities companies NT2 (-0.7%) and HNA (-0.7%).
