Market wrap: VN-Index gains 0.9% on Tuesday

The VN-Index gained 0.9% (+10.9 pts) on Tuesday to close the trading day at 1,272.6. This was the third consecutive trading day that the index has advanced. Throughout the index, there were 264 gainers, 136 laggards, and 80 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume surged compared to the previous trading day to USD760.2mn.

* Real estate stocks performed well including VHM (+2.1%), VIC (+1.3%), VRE (+2.5%), KDH (+1.8%), NVL (+4.96%), and PDR (+6.8%).

* Four banks were among the top-ten stocks lifting the market. These were VCB (+2.3%), BID (+2.6%), CTG (+1.7%), and VPB (+0.8%). TCB (-0.2%), LPB (-0.95%), and HDB (-0.7%) declined.

* Notable other gaining stocks were airline HVN (+4.98%), technology company FPT (+0.8%), rubber producer GVR (+1.01%), and retailers PNJ (+2.96%) and MWG (+0.7%).

* Some of the lagging stocks across sectors were milk producer VNM (-0.5%), steel maker HPG (-0.2%), oil & gas company PLX (-1.9%), and utility company PGV (-2.5%).
