Market wrap: VN-Index gains 0.6%, VN30 group performs well

On Tuesday, the VN-Index gained 0.6% (+7.0 pts) to close the trading day at 1,261.8. The large-cap VN30 group performed well as it only featured five declining stocks. Throughout the index, there were 244 gainers, 132 laggards, and 65 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume plunged compared to the previous trading day to USD742.6mn. 

* In the banks sector, VCB (0.0%) was unchanged, while BID (+0.1%), CTG (+0.7%), TCB (+0.4%), VPB (+0.8%), MBB (+0.8%), and HDB (+2.4%) gained. There were no large-cap laggards in the sector. 

* The basic materials sector saw steel maker HPG (+1.1%), rubber producer GVR (+1.4%), and chemical companies DGC (+1.5%), DCM (+1.9%), DPM (+2.2%), and CSV (+6.9%) surge. 

* Airline HVN (+6.8%) was the index’s most impactful stock. Retailer MWG (+1.5%), real estate company BCM (+2.1%), tech company FPT (+0.4%), jewelry retailer PNJ (+1.5%), and logistics company GMD (+4.0%) were among other notable gainers not mentioned above.  

* Some of the laggards across sectors included milk producer VNM (-0.3%), real estate company VIC (-0.2%), securities company SSI (-0.4%), and oil & gas company PLX (-0.2%).
