Market wrap: VN-Index gains 0.5% after three-day slide
The VN-Index gained 0.5% (+5.3 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,175.7. Major banking institutions played a pivotal role in driving market gains, with six of the top ten stocks contributing significantly to the positive momentum originating from this sector. In total, the index had 253 gainers, 193 laggards, and 129 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased to USD524.2mn.  
* Banks VCB (+1.1%), BID (+1.1%), ACB (+1.9%), TCB (+1.1%), VPB (+0.5%), and HDB (+1.2%) were the six previously mentioned stocks strongly contributing to the market. STB (-0.7%) was the only decliner.  
* In real estate, VIC (0.0%) was unchanged while subsidiaries VHM (-0.2%) and VRE (-0.2%) decreased. PDR (+2.9%) and NLG (+2.9%) posted strong gains.  
* Beer producer SAB’s (-2.6%) share price has declined by more than 5% in the last two trading days. As for other food & beverage players, MSN (-1.5%) fell and VNM (+0.2%) and VHC (+1.4%) rose.  
* Steel maker HPG (+0.4%), rubber producer GVR (+2.6%), technology company FPT (+0.8%), building materials firm VGC (+2.2%), and airline VJC (+0.8%) were among the standout gainers in across industries.
