Market wrap: VN-Index falls on profit booking

The VN-Index dropped by four-tenths of a percent on Wednesday as investors booked profits following the 1.9% increase over the previous three trading days.

* GVR (-2.7%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss, ending a run of three positive sessions.

* Steelmakers HPG (-1.3%), HSG (-2.3%) and NKG (-2.0%) pulled back after their strong gains on Tuesday.

* Other notable decliners included MWG (-2.2%), MSN (-1.0%) and NVL (-2.6%).

* Meanwhile, banks CTG (+1.4%), VPB (+1.3%) and SHB (+2.4%) were a bright spot.
