On Monday, the VN-Index edged up 0.5% (+5.8 pts) to close the trading day at 1,267.7. Utilities was the leading sector positively impacting the market. In total, there were 233 gainers, 198 laggards, and 67 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined to USD691.4mn.  

* Utility companies GAS (+2.5%), POW (+6.6%), and PGV (+6.95%) surged and were three of the top five stocks lifting the index. NT2 (+2.7%) also posted a strong gain in the sector.  

* The banks sector had a poor performance as TCB (+0.2%) and ACB (+0.7%) were the only large-cap gainers. VCB (0.0%), VPB (0.0%), MBB (0.0%), and VIB (0.0%) were unchanged. BID (-0.6%), CTG (-0.3%), and HDB (-1.7%) declined.  

* In real estate, VIC (+0.2%), BCM (+0.98%), KDH (+0.6%), NVL (+0.4%), and KBC (+1.1%) saw their share prices increase while VHM (0.0%) and VRE (0.0%) were unchanged, and PDR (-1.9%) and DIG (-1.6%) lost value.  

* Other notable gainers were rubber producer GVR (+2.9%), airline HVN (+3.9%), insurance company BVH (+4.04%), technology company FPT (+0.7%), and electrical equipment manufacturer GEX (+4.1%).
