The VN-Index gained 0.4% (+4.5 pts) on Monday to open the week at 1,246.6. The market was lifted by large-cap stocks originating from a variety of sectors. Throughout the index, there were 244 gainers, 168 laggards, and 94 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume edged up compared to the previous trading day to USD450.9mn.
* In the banks sector, BID (+1.8%) had the most positive effect on the index while LPB (+1.4%) and HDB (+0.6%) also had strong performances. VCB (0.0%), TCB (0.0%), VPB (0.0%), and STB (0.0%) were unchanged and MBB (-0.8%) was the only large-cap bank to see a decline.
* In real estate, VHM (-1.7%), VRE (-1.8%), and PDR (-1.5%) plunged. BCM (+1.1%) and KDH (+0.6%) gained and VIC (0.0%) was unchanged.
* Stocks from other sectors that helped advance the index were airline HVN (+6.9%), milk producer VNM (+2.1%), steel maker HPG (+1.6%), rubber producer GVR (+1.2%), retailer MWG (+1.6%), and technology company FPT (+0.8%).
* Some of the decliners negatively affecting the index from other sectors were construction & materials VGC (-3.99%), airline VJC (-1.5%), utility company GAS (-0.3%), fruit and rubber planter HNG (-6.9%), and logistics company TMS (-2.6%).
