The VN-Index edged down 0.6% (-7.6 pts) on Thursday to close the trading day at 1,208.3. Five of the ten stocks pushing the market down the most were from the banks sector. Throughout the index, there were 161 gainers, 257 laggards, and 62 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased compared to the previous trading day to USD664.2mn.
* The previously mentioned bank stocks are TCB (-4.4%), BID (-0.9%), VCB (-0.5%), MBB (-1.3%), and VPB (-0.8%).
* Several real estate stocks performed poorly including VIC (-1.3%), BCM (-0.7%), VRE (-1.9%), and KDH (-1.3%). VHM (+1.1%) was the sole large-cap gainer in the sector.
* The utilites sector did well during the trading day, with GAS (+2.9%), REE (+0.8%), POW (+0.4%), and VSH (+0.8%) seeing their share prices increase.
* Noteworthy decliners in other sectors were steel maker HPG (-1.7%), milk producer VNM (-1.5%), technology company FPT (-0.5%), oil & gas company PLX (-0.5%), and airline HVN (-6.99%).
