The VN-Index edged down 0.1% (-0.6 pts) on Monday to close at 1,154. Only 12 tickers in the VN30 basket gained on the day, led by key stocks spread across industries such as banking, real estate, retail, utilities, and others. In total, there were 311 laggards, 181 gainers, and 78 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume fell to USD518.3mn.
* Banks VCB (+1.5%) and BID (+1.3%) were the top two positively contributing stocks. MBB (+0.5%) and HDB (+0.5%) were the only other gainers in the sector. Notable decliners were VPB (-1.5%), TCB (-1.01%), and ACB (-1.9%).
* The next three top contributing stocks were retail player MWG (+2.4%), GAS (+0.8%), and real estate firm VHM (+0.7%). VHM’s parent company VIC (+0.1%) also posted a marginal gain.
* In food & beverage, VNM (-0.3%) and SAB (-1.2%) declined while HAG (-3.6%) and VHC (-2.1%) plunged. MSN (+1.2%) gained.
* Electrical equipment company GEX (-1.4%) has declined for four consecutive trading days. Technology firm FPT (+0.7%) and rubber producer GVR (+0.7%) gained.
