Market wrap: VN-Index drops to five-week low as trading turnover declines
The VN-Index dropped by seven-tenths of a percent on Wednesday to close at a five-week low of 1,172.56. Investors demonstrated caution, as evidenced by trading turnover on HOSE falling by 22% compared to Tuesday’s session, amounting to USD713.7mn
* The majority of banks finished in the red, including VCB (-2.4%), VPB (-1.7%), STB (-3.9%), CTG (-0.8%) and MBB (-1.1%).
* VHM (-1.8%) finished lower for the fifth consecutive trading day. On the other hand, its parent company VIC (+0.8%) edged up following its 14.7% tumble over the previous four sessions.
* Power stocks PGV (-4.2%) and POW (-3.5%) plummeted.
* GAS (+1.6%) increased for the third day in a row and was the day’s top contributing gainer.
