Market wrap: VN-Index dips 0.7%, large-cap stocks decline across sectors
The VN-Index dipped 0.7% (-7.8 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,102.3. Large-cap stocks declined across sectors with some resilience shown in banking and financial services. In the session, there were 162 gainers, 338 laggards, and 87 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined to USD655.5mn.
* In a reversal of yesterday’s performance, VCB (-2.6%) had by far the most negative impact on the market today. BID (-0.2%), VPB (-1.6%), and CTG (-0.2%) were the other notable decliners in the sector. TCB (+0.2%), ACB (+1.1%), and HDB (+0.5%) gained. MBB (0.0%), SSB (0.0%), and STB (0.0%) were unchanged.
* Several large-cap real estate stocks dropped, including VIC (-0.2%), VHM (-0.99%), VRE (-1.3%), and BCM (-2.7%). NVL (+3.7%) soared. VIC, VHM, and VRE have declined for three consecutive sessions.
* Food & beverage firms VNM (-0.4%) and SAB (-0.3%) edged down while MSN (-3.1%) and HAG (-2.97%) plunged.
* GAS (-1.2%) and steel maker HPG (-0.9%) fell. Airline VJC (-2.2%) sharply declined after gaining for three straight sessions. The share price of retail player MWG (-2.0%) has fallen for four consecutive days.
