Market wrap: VN-Index dips 0.4%, real estate stocks weigh on market

On Thursday, the VN-Index dipped 0.4% (-4.9 pts) to close the session at 1,121.5. Real estate stocks weighed on the market while several large-cap banks made gains. Total trading value soared to USD1.1bn. In total, there were 205 gainers, 289 laggards, and 95 stocks that were unchanged.  

* In real estate, VHM (-1.9%), BCM (-1.8%), and NVL (-4.4%) plunged. VIC (0.0%) was unchanged and VRE (-0.4%) edged down.  

* Banking giant VCB (-0.8%) declined and heavily influenced the market. Most other large-cap banks increased, including BID (+1.5%), VPB (+1.3%), CTG (+0.9%), TCB (+1.5%), and MBB (+0.8%).  

* In food & beverage, VNM (-0.2%) edged down, MSN (+2.6%) surged, and SAB (+0.6%) slightly increased.  

* GAS (-2.4%) sank, technology firm FPT (-0.7%) couldn’t maintain its upward momentum from the previous seven sessions, and steel maker HPG (0.0%) was unchanged.
