The VN-Index dipped 0.4% (-4.5 pts) on Wednesday to close the trading day at 1,172.9. Banks were the sector most negatively affecting the market. There were 167 gainers, 297 laggards, and 103 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume rose to USD629.9mn.
* In real estate, VIC (+0.1%), VHM (+0.4%), VRE (+0.8%), and KBC (+0.5%) gained as NVL (-1.8%), NLG (-1.5%), PDR (-0.7%), and KDH (-0.5%) fell.
* In securities, HCM (+4.4%) posted a strong gain and SSI (+0.6%), VND (+0.7%), and VCI (+0.7%) also rose. EVF (-4.5%) plunged.
* Most large-cap banks declined, including VCB (-0.4%), BID (-1.0%), CTG (-0.6%), and VPB (-0.3%). HDB (+0.7%) and STB (+0.8%) were the only large-cap banks increasing.
* Other noteworthy stocks declining were food & beverage firm MSN (-1.9%), retail company MWG (-2.2%), technology player FPT (-0.6%), and GAS (-0.4%).
