Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.8% to finish week

The VN-Index declined 0.8% (-9.7 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,264.8. Large-cap stocks across sectors weighed on the market as 21 stocks from the VN30 group saw their share prices fall. Throughout the index, there were 126 gainers, 324 laggards, and 49 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume declined compared to the previous trading day to USD730.4mn. 

* There were mixed performances in the banks sector as VCB (-0.6%), BID (-1.7%), TCB (-1.3%), and VPB (-1.3%) fell. In contrast, MBB (+2.01%), ACB (+1.2%), and LPB (+0.9%) posted solid gains.  

* In real estate, VHM (+1.1%) and VIC (+0.5%) were the only large-cap gainers in the sector. VRE (-1.2%), NVL (-3.6%), PDR (-4.03%), and NLG (-2.96%) plunged.  

* Notable stocks in other sectors that gained were beer brewer SAB (+1.7%), retailers MWG (+0.9%), FRT (+1.2%), and DGW (+2.1%), securities company SSI (+1.3%), and fish exporter VHC (+0.3%).  

* Lagging stocks of note were rubber producer GVR (-4.3%), milk producer VNM (-0.9%), technology company FPT (-1.5%), steel maker HPG (-0.7%), and airline HVN (-6.9%). HVN’s share price has decreased by nearly 27% this week.
