Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.7% to close out week

The VN-Index declined 0.7% (-7.5 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,154.7. Most of the stocks in the VN30 basket were down except for several in the banking sector. There were 132 gainers, 380 laggards, and 60 stocks that were unchanged in the market. Total trading volume jumped to USD930.8mn.  

* Six banks led the top ten most positively influential stocks on the day. These were MBB (+3.4%), CTG (+1.6%), ACB (+2.2%), TCB (+1.5%), STB (+1.4%), and SHB (+1.7%). VCB (-0.7%) and BID (-1.1%) decreased.  

* Major real estate players VIC (-1.5%), VHM (-1.7%), and VRE (-1.5%) all fell while NVL (-3.3%), KBC (-2.5%), and DIG (-2.6%) sharply dropped.  

* Energy and aviation stocks faced a lackluster trading day. GAS declined by 1.18%, POW by 1.72%, and PLX by 1.41%, with PGV maintaining the reference price. VJC and HVN experienced value drops of 0.47% and 1.19%, respectively.

* Other notable laggards were food & beverage firms VNM (-1.03%) and MSN (-1.97%), steel maker HPG (-1.3%), rubber producer GVR (-3.8%), electrical equipment firm GEX (-3.6%), and jewelry retailer PNJ (-1.4%).
