On Wednesday, the VN-Index declined 0.7% (-9.1 pts) to close the trading day at 1,272.6. Throughout the index, there were 182 gainers, 260 laggards, and 61 stocks that were unchanged. The index’s downward movement was led by the banks sector. Total trading volume increased to USD997.8mn.
* There were five banks in the top ten stocks negatively affecting the market. These were VCB (-0.99%), CTG (-1.7%), BID (-1.0%), HDB (-2.9%), and MBB (-1.3%). LPB (+3.8%) was the sole large-cap gainer and has gained more than 10% in the last two trading days.
* Real estate also had a poor performance. VHM (-1.3%), VIC (-1.4%), VRE (-1.3%), BCM (-1.3%), KDH (-1.5%), and NVL (-2.4%) fell. NLG (+1.6%) and DIG (+0.4%) gained.
* Several declining stocks of note in other sectors were steel maker HPG (-1.9%), rubber producer GVR (-1.97%), technology company FPT (-0.95%), milk producer VNM (-0.8%), retailer MWG (-1.6%), and airline VJC (-1.6%).
* Utility company GAS (+0.4%), airline HVN (+5.2%), securities company VND (+1.6%), retailer FRT (+0.99%), and pharmaceutical company DHG (+1.9%) were some of the stand-out gainers in other sectors. HVN has seen its share price increase over 23% in the last five trading days.
