The VN-Index declined 0.2% (-2.6 pts) on Thursday to close the trading day at 1,170.4. 13 stocks in the large-cap VN30 basket were either unchanged (7) or increased (6). However, these performances were not sufficient to completely counteract the downward pressure caused by the other members of the VN30. In the VN-Index, there were 140 gainers, 301 laggards, and 117 stocks unchanged. Total trading volume fell sharply to USD463.2mn.
* The banking sector had a mixed performance. VCB (-0.1%), BID (-1.02%), TCB (-0.7%), STB (-0.8%), and HDB (-0.5%) declined. VPB (0.0%), MBB (0.0%), ACB (0.0%), and SSB (0.0%) were unchanged. CTG (+0.2%) was the only large-cap gainer.
* In real estate, major players VIC (-0.8%), VHM (-0.9%), and VRE (-0.6%) declined, as did BCM (-0.7%), NVL (-0.6%), and KBC (-0.7%). KDH (+0.97%), PDR (+0.4%), and NLG (+0.5%) rose.
* Some notable gainers in other sectors include food & beverage firms MSN (+0.9%) and HAG (+3.2%), technology company FPT (+0.1%), retailer MWG (+1.8%), and airline VJC (+0.2%).
* Some noteworthy decliners in different sectors include GAS (-0.5%), food & beverage companies VNM (-0.6%) and SAB (-2.5%), chemical company DGC (-1.5%), and oil & gas firm PLX (-0.4%).
