Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.04% to close week
The VN-Index declined 0.04% (-0.5 pts) on Friday to close the week at 1,172.6. More than half (18) of the large-cap VN30 basket of stocks posted losses (14) or were unchanged (4). The performance of several banks weighed on the market. In the index, there were 199 gainers, 267 laggards, and 89 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume increased significantly to USD821.7mn.  
* Banks VPB (-1.8%), BID (-0.7%), CTG (-1.1%), and VIB (-1.8%) were four of the top five stocks most negatively affecting the market. VCB (+0.6%) edged up while HDB (+2.5%) surged. TCB (0.0%) and SSB (0.0%) were unchanged.  
* In real estate, VHM (0.0%) was unchanged while VIC (-0.6%) declined and BCM (–2.3%) and VRE (-1.6%) tumbled.  
* Notable gainers across industries were technology firm FPT (+2.1%), rubber producer GVR (+2.7%), retailer MWG (+2.6%), and food & beverage player MSN (+0.5%).  
* Noteworthy declining stocks were GAS (-0.4%), milk producer VNM (-0.2%), industrials company VGC (-1.3%), and airline VJC (-0.7%).
