Market wrap: VN-Index climbs 1.1%, majority of VN30 stocks gain

On Wednesday, the VN-Index climbed 1.1% (+12.5 pts). For consecutive days, the banking sector led the market higher. Most of the stocks in the VN30 basket saw prices increase as advances occurred across industries. There were 395 gainers, 106 laggards, and 71 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume fell to USD602.8mn.

* Leading bank VCB (+1.2%) continued its surge from yesterday while fellow lenders BID (+1.9%), VPB (+1.3%), CTG (+1.5%), TCB (+1.6%), MBB (+1.6%), and ACB (+2.3%) also strongly increased. SSB (-2.7%) plunged.  

* Real estate players VIC (+0.3%), VHM (+0.9%), and VRE (+0.7%) gained after falling in the previous session. BCM (-0.7%) and KDH (-0.2%) declined for consecutive days.  

* In food & beverage, VNM (+1.0%) and MSN (+0.7%) rose while SAB (0.0%) was unchanged. HAG (+0.7%) edged up.

* Rubber producer GVR (+3.1%) soared, steel maker HPG (+1.3%) surged, and technology firm FPT (+0.4%) inched up.
