Market wrap: VN-Index breaks loss streak, led by banks

On Thursday, the VN-Index broke its three-day loss streak by gaining 0.6% (+7.0 pts) to close the trading day at 1,286.5. The index's gain was primarily driven by the banks sector, which accounted for nine of the ten top contributing stocks. Throughout the index, there were 224 gainers, 128 laggards, and 79 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume sharply increased compared to the previous trading day to USD623.1mn. 

* The banks mentioned above were VCB (+0.8%), BID (+0.9%), MBB (+1.6%), STB (+2.9%), ACB (+1.6%), CTG (+0.7%), MSB (+3.9%), TPB (+2.3%), and TCB (+0.6%). HDB (-1.7%) declined.  

* The real estate sector had a strong performance as PDR (+6.9%), NVL (+2.5%), and KBC (+1.8%) surged. BCM (-0.4%) edged down.  

* Financial services rebounded with SSI (+1.3%), VND (+1.7%), HCM (+0.9%), and VCI (+2.7%) increasing.  

* Other noteworthy gainers were tech company FPT (+0.5%), steel maker HPG (+0.6%), food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+0.8%), retailer MWG (+0.5%), and oil & gas company PLX (+0.9%).
