Market wrap: VN-Index advances for third consecutive day, up 0.6%

On Thursday, the VN-Index advanced for the third consecutive day, closing 0.6% higher (+6.6 pts). There were mixed results across industries with the banking sector leading the market’s gain. In total, there were 299 gainers, 203 laggards, and 84 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume jumped to USD1.04bn.

* In banking, VCB (+1.7%) is up over 5% so far this week. All other large-cap banks increased except for BID (-0.3%). Notable stocks in the sector include CTG (+3.6%), MBB (+4.96%), and VPB (+1.3%).

* In real estate, VHM (+0.1%) and VRE (+0.7%) marginally gained while parent company VIC (0.0%) was unchanged. BCM (-1.1%) has fallen for four consecutive days.

* Food & beverage firms SAB (+0.6%) and VHC (+1.3%) increased while MSN (-1.2%) declined and VHM (0.0%) was unchanged. HAG (-2.9%) plunged.

* GAS (+0.9%) has gained for three consecutive days. Steel maker HPG (-0.2%) slightly declined. Technology firm FPT (+0.9%) edged up. Chemical producer DGC (+2.1%) surged.
