Market wrap: VIC surges, but VN-Index edges down

On Monday, the VN-Index looked like it was on its way to finishing higher, but a plunge in the final 90 minutes of trading caused the index to close down by a tenth of a percent.

* VIC (+5.2%) has jumped 7.7% over the last two trading sessions and was the day’s top contributing gainer. Vingroup subsidiaries VHM (+1.0%) and VRE (+0.9%) also increased.

* Banks TCB (+2.0%), MBB (+1.1%), VIB (+1.7%), OCB (+3.0%) and TPB (+1.5%) climbed. Conversely, VCB (-1.2%) was the leading contributor to the day’s loss.

* Other notable laggards included GVR (-3.9%) and HPG (-1.1%).
