Market wrap: VIC continues to surge, but VN-Index plummets at end of session

On Tuesday, the VN-Index appeared to be headed for its third straight positive session until a strong selloff in the final hour of trading caused the index to close down by four-tenths of a percent. 

* Dairy manufacturer VNM (-2.6%) was the top contributor to the day’s loss. 

* Steelmakers HPG (-2.5%), HSG (-3.4%) and NKG (-3.3%) dropped. 

* Numerous real estate & construction tickers suffered heavy losses, including NVL (-5.6%), DXG (-5.0%), DIG (-4.2%) and CTD (-6.9%). 

* Conglomerate VIC (+6.9%) surged to the daily trading ceiling for the second day in a row. 

* Banks BID (+2.1%), SSB (+2.7%), CTG (+1.3%), EIB (+1.9%) and HDB (+1.1%) were among the day’s top contributing gainers.
