Market wrap: VCB leads VN-Index to 1% gain

After a quiet morning session, the VN-Index rallied on Friday afternoon to close up by 1% as a strong gain from VCB led the way. For the week, the VN-Index increased 1.6%.

* VCB (+4.3%) was the day’s top contributing gainer.

* Retailer MWG (+5.3%) hit a seven-month high.

* Steel tickers HPG (+1.7%), NKG (+5.1%) and HSG (+4.9%) climbed.

* GVR (+2.7%) finished the week up 9.5%.

* VHM (-0.9%) fell for the third day in a row and was the leading contributor among laggards.
