Market wrap: Upward momentum stops, VN-Index drops 1.2%
On Thursday, the VN-Index dropped by 1.2% (-13.4 pts) after advancing for three consecutive sessions, closing at 1,114.2. Large-cap stocks were down across the board, with a total of 89 gainers, 448 decliners, and 70 that were unchanged. Total trading volume jumped to USD757.8mn.
* Banks VCB (-0.6%), BID (-0.7%), and CTG (-0.9%) edged down while VPB (-1.3%), TCB (-1.8%), and MBB (-1.1%) plunged. HDB (+0.3%) was the only gainer in the sector.
* In real estate, VIC (-0.8%), VHM (-0.7%), and BCM (-0.8%) marginally decreased. Several other stocks in this sector sharply declined, including VRE (-2.8%), NVL (-3.95%), KBC (-2.3%), and PDR (-2.6%).
* In food & beverage, VNM (-1.7%) and SAB (-1.5%) tumbled while MSN (-0.6%) ticked down. HAG (+3.4%) has now gained more than 11% over the last three sessions.
* The stock price of airline VJC (+0.5%) has increased for three consecutive days. GAS (-1.7%), steel maker HPG (-2.2%), technology company FPT (-1.7%), and rubber producer GVR (-1.97%) slumped.
