Market wrap: Securities tickers help VN-Index to inch up

After falling on Tuesday morning, the VN-Index recovered in afternoon trading on bottom-fishing demand and closed up by less than a tenth of a percent. 

* SSB (+6.0%) was the top contributor to the day’s small gain, bouncing back after it had dropped 9.8% over the previous three trading days. 

* Securities brokerages SSI (+6.4%), VCI (+5.2%), VND (+2.7%) and HCM (+2.5%) increased. 

* Retailer MWG (+2.0%) rebounded following its 9.1% decline over the previous two sessions. 

* VIC (-2.0%) has tumbled nearly 15% since August 17.
