Market wrap: Broad spectrum of stocks drop, VN-Index inches down 0.38%

The VN-Index fell by 0.38% to close at 1,101.7 on Wednesday as big tickers across a variety of sectors declined. Trading fluctuated throughout the day before the market plunged in the afternoon in response to selling pressure and cautious sentiment.  

* The banking sector lost steam from yesterday with VCB (-0.2%) having the most negative effect on the day’s session. Share prices of several other banks fell, like BID (-1.3%), VPB (-0.2%), and CTG (-1.7%).  

* Gas producer GAS also had a significant negative effect on the market, dropping by 0.99%.  

* VinGroup (VIC, +2.9%) and subsidiary Vinhomes (VHM, +0.7%) led the session’s counterbalance as both stocks finished up for consecutive days.
